398th Mission List Notes
  1. The "Official" 398th Mission List above was obtained from the 398th Bomb Group Memorial Association Publication: 398th Bomb Group Remembrances by Allen Ostrom circa 1989. Spellings of towns are as they are in that publication. It should be noted that on some days there were multiple missions and sometimes part of the formation went to alternate targets because of weather, heavy flak, or other conditions. Thus data for individual squadrons and/or crews may be different than the above list.
  2. The 398th was based at Station 131 in Nuthampstead, England from April 1944 until May 1945. All missions left from Nuthampstead and were to Germany unless otherwise specified. Non-Germany missions included locations in France, Holland, Czechoslovakia and Poland.
  3. Clicking the links above will take you to all the information that has been put on the 398th Web Page for that mission.
  4. The 398th Mission Names and Locations page can be helpful in locating our target locations.
  5. The 398th Mission Formation Charts - Transcription Status page provides a snapshot in a single page of the formation charts on-line for each 398th mission.
  6. The 398th Mission Info Index provides additional links related to 398th Combat Missions.
  7. Volunteers are needed to transcribe various mission reports to add to the growing collection of information about each of the 398th Missions.
