- Interpretive Comments: Above is a 398th B-17 in formation on a training flight over England. The fuselage lettering is N7, which indicates the 603rd Squadron. The A/C No. is 337527, and the shorthand ID is 7527-X. The farmed fields with leaves on the trees suggest a timeframe of early summer 1944. Some of the men recall that this photo was taken shortly after delivery of the aircraft to the 398th, which was on 13 June 1944. Given that the tail hadn't been completely painted in 398th colors, the above photo was probably taken shortly after 13 June 1944.
