T/Sgt. Armand Fugge's Diary
Engineer/Top Turret Gunner 600th Squadron

Fugge Mission No.
27

25 July 1944
Target:
Gun Emplacements, St. Lo, France

July 25, 1944
Was up at 0400. Our target was big gun emplacements west of St. Lo, France. The 1st Army was to start its advance at 1100 so our bombs had to be away at 1055. Carried 38 –100 lb. G.P. bombs and because of low clouds and a heavy haze, we had to bomb from 12,600 ft. That was the lowest bomb run as yet. Saw a little flak, inaccurate. Came home the same way as yesterday.

The first man of the group finished up today and today he got a good dousing from the group commander, Col. Hunter, with a fire hose.

MISSON # 27 COMPLETED.
